On a beautiful spring evening on Lake Travis, just west of Austin, Texas,
Roger and Kathy
were married before their families and closest friends.
It was a small and informal, but highly meaningful ceremony.
The images on this and the next few pages will give you a feel for what the evening
was like, and how blessed Roger and Kathy feel to have each other at this stage
of their lives.
Lake Travis Marina
We were married at the Lakeside Events Center, in the Lake Travis Marina, located
on the south shore of Lake Travis, one of the beautiful Highland Lakes, west of
Austin in the Texas Hill Country.
It was a beautiful evening... just cool enough with a slight breeze.
The gentle clanging of the sailboats in the marina lent a lovely background sound
to the evening.
A Family Affair
Kathy's parents, Paul and Geri Opsahl, are both Lutheran ministers, and we were
blessed to have them both perform the service.
They are, respectively, the "Right Reverend Opsahl", and the
"Always Right Reverend Opsahl"!! <g>
The sermons they both prepared and gave will be remembered by us and by those in
attendance forever.
Andrew was Roger's "Best Man", and
Melanie was Kathy's "Maid of Honor".
The kids loved being such an important part, and we couldn't have
been happier with our selections!
We were so thankful that our families and friends were with us on this day.
Roger's parents, sister/brother-in-law, grandfather, and an uncle/(soon-to-be)aunt
were there.
Kathy's brother/sister-in-law, sister/brother-in-law, grandmother, two aunts and an uncle
all joined us!
Their support, love, and friendship mean so very much to us.
Just married!
Roger and Kathy share a quick moment in the marina gazebo during the reception.
We decided ahead of time to make this event as casual and fun as possible.
The food was catered barbeque... we made the invitations ourselves (more on
that in a minute!)... the wedding and reception were very small
(immediate family and closest friends)...
But... this didn't mean it wasn't special.
In fact, it was just the opposite.
There was no pretention... no unnecessary pomp-and-circumstance... just two people
who realized (finally!) that they should spend the rest of their lives working
together to make four separate people into one loving family.
On to page 2!
